3 Computer Best Bets for Saturday

The last time I offered some of my computer-generated spot plays, on Dec. 16, I was bailed out from going zip-for-four with a nice exacta in the sixth race at Remington Park, where I keyed 20-1 shot Euramaster. If you had bet $2 on all my suggested plays that day, you’d have made — are you sitting down? — $1.80.

Yeah, I know, not exactly the kind of money that will allow you to put a down payment on a yacht… or a canoe… or an inflatable raft. But I am not easily deterred. So, I’m back like a bad case of heartburn with some more computer picks for Saturday.

We’ll start at Gulfstream Park in the second race, a 1 1/16-mile turf affair:

COMMENTS:
This son of Kitten’s Joy qualifies as a “Superior LSR Play,” meaning that both his last-race late speed ration and his overall LSRs are tops in the field — and they’re positive. This is a potent angle, especially on grass. However, the one caveat is the projected pace, which figures to be slow (0 ESR), so I’d use the likely pacesetter, CAVIL, in your wagers as well.

BET(s): WIN/PLACE ON 1.

Next, let’s go to Parx Racing, race 6:

COMMENTS:
Cousin Stephen is the 2-1 morning line favorite and this particular angle, which calls for a race-best Win Rating and a dominant  median speed figure of 100 or greater, has a 52.5-percent strike rate and an ROI of 7.55 percent with morning line favorites.

BET(S): WIN ON 1.

Lastly, we’ll head out to Laurel Park for that track’s eighth race:

COMMENTS:
Again, no price here, but a solid angle that hits at a 36.1-percent clip (+13.1-percent ROI) overall and at a 50.1-percent rate (+5.29-percent ROI) with horses less than 3-1 on the morning line. Ideally, I’d key this horse in vertical and horizontal wagers, but since I’m just listing my computer-generated plays here, I’ll stick with a win play.

BET(S): WIN ON 6.

Well, that’s it for this weekend. Hopefully, it won’t come down to the last race this week — and you’ll make more than pocket change — but no promises.
