Churchill Downs may be without its Kentucky Derby on this first Saturday in May, but it’s closing in on post time for the virtual Kentucky Derby featuring the 13 Triple Crown winners in a simulated Run for the Roses.

Post time for the race is 5:45 p.m. ET, and it is being broadcast by NBC as a lead up to live racing from Oaklawn Park, highlighted by two divisions of the Arkansas Derby (G1).

The lineup for the virtual Derby features some of the most famous horses in history, from Sir Barton to Secretariat to American Pharoah.

There is no actual wagering on the race because it’s a charity event, but picking the winner via KentuckyDerby.com will give you a chance to win a Derby146 VIP experience. The real Derby was rescheduled to Sept. 5 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Secretariat, considered the greatest champion of all, is the 7-2 favorite in odds set by Derby oddsmaker Mike Battaglia. Secretariat, who was ridden by Ron Turcotte, drew the No. 3 post.

Here’s the rest of the field, from the rail out, for the simulated race.

Affirmed (5-1), Assault (20-1), Secretariat (7-2), Sir Barton (20-1), Seattle Slew (5-1), American Pharoah (6-1), Gallant Fox (20-1), Citation (4-1), War Admiral (8-1), Whirlaway (6-1), Count Fleet (6-1), Justify (15-1), and Omaha (20-1).

These are the 13 horses who swept the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes in one year – considered the greatest feat in in thoroughbred racing.
